More than one hundred years is a long time. But at Weyerhaeuser, we think it's just the beginning. With our manufacturing sites (6 mills and 2 converting facilities), we look to the future and see markets and services for cellulose fibers that we could never have imagined.
In 1934, cellulose acetate film was introduced as a more stable film than earlier nitrate versions. Filmmakers around the world still use this stock today.
Cellulose fibers can be used in hardened, plastic-like forms to create durable items such as helmets. Athletes rely on their helmets to resist penetration, absorb shock, and be water-resistant and lightweight.
