Since 1953, Weyerhaeuser has produced liquid packaging board at our facility in Longview, Washington. Nearly 200 skilled people produce rolls of liquid packaging board that will be printed, scored, cut, and formed into products by our customers to hold liquid foods and beverages for consumers around the world.
Weyerhaeuser is proud of our commitment to quality in all of our facilities. The quality management system at Longview has been recommended for certification to the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
The Chip Facility is where we process 1.5 million bone-dry tons of chips a year for
making pulp fiber. Chips are residuals from the production of structural and appearance
solid wood. Chips enter the facility by rail, truck or barge from five Northwest states.
They are stored by species, screened to remove contaminants, and transferred by conveyor
as needed for processing.
Fiber Line manufactures 370,000 tons of fiber every year, using an environmentally friendly pulping
process that requires no elemental chlorine. The process removes brown colored compounds to achieve the
desired white color for liquid food packaging.
Wastewater Treatment Area at the Longview facility
provides an efficient effluent system for treating total suspended solids (TSS) and reducing biological
oxygen demand (BOD).
Liquid Packaging Paper Machine produces 240,000 metric tons of liquid packaging board each year,
using technology that ensures superior quality and results in one of the cleanest sheets in the industry.
Packaging board is produced entirely from bleached fiber from the Longview kraft mill.
Customer In has meeting
facilities where our marketing, sales and paper mill staff can talk to customers and to each other about
providing superior service and to translate marketplace requirements to packaging board specifications.
