Production Facility
Since 1979, NORPAC has been producing newsprint in Longview, Washington. Today, our three machines manufacture more than 720,000 tons annually and we are the largest newsprint facility in North America.
Our manufacturing facility includes:
- A thermo mechanical pulp (TMP) mill that refines chips to separate fibers for papermaking. Our TMP mill is the largest in the world. Much of the wood-chip raw material used here is residual from Weyerhaeuser's sawmills.
- An advanced deinking facility that recycles old newspapers and magazines and produces high-quality recycled fiber. This state-of-the-art resource is the third-largest processor of old newsprint in North America.
- Three of the world's largest and fastest paper machines. Every day, these machines produce newsprint equivalent to a 30-foot-wide sheet extending from Seattle to Miami.
- A six-acre shipping warehouse that uses state-of-the-art vacuum trucks to minimize damage to rolls. Rolls of finished newsprint are stored for distribution to customers on the West Coast and in Japan.
