Recovered Paper Grades

Weyerhaeuser collects and sorts over 50 different grades of recovered paper, including the most common grades listed below. Additionally, we can make custom packs specific to customer needs.

Coated book stock

  • Coated groundwood-free paper, printed or unprinted sheets, shavings, guillotined books, and cuttings
  • Obtained from printers
  • Used in production of tissue and deinked pulp

Hard white envelope cuttings

  • Baled groundwood-free cuttings, shavings, or sheets of unprinted, untreated, and uncoated white envelope paper
  • Most frequently obtained from envelope converters
  • Used as a pulp substitute for printing and writing papers, linerboard, and white duplex board

Hard white shavings

  • Baled shavings or sheets of unprinted, untreated white groundwood-free paper
  • Obtained from envelope converters, printers, paper mills, and obsolete inventories
  • Commonly used as a pulp substitute for printing and writing papers, linerboard, and white duplex board

Mixed paper

  • Baled, clean, sorted mixture of various qualities of paper
  • Obtained from printers, recycling facilities, and other sources of recycled stock
  • Used as a filler grade in the production of duplex board and medium

New double-lined kraft corrugated cuttings

  • Baled new corrugated cuttings with liners of test liner, jute, or kraft
  • Obtained from box-converting plants
  • Used to manufacture liner and medium

Office pack

  • Baled paper containing primarily white and colored groundwood-free paper, free of unbleached paper
  • Obtained from offices
  • Used in production of tissue and deinked pulp

Old corrugated containers

  • Baled corrugated containers having liners of test liner, jute, or kraft
  • Typically obtained from supermarkets, distribution centers, and retail outlets
  • Used to manufacture liner and medium

Old newspaper

  • Baled newspapers available in various grades
  • Generally obtained from newspaper drives and curbside collection programs
  • Used to manufacture newsprint, insulation products, and duplex board

Sorted white ledger

  • Printed or unprinted sheets, shavings, guillotined books, and cuttings of white groundwood-free ledger, bond, writing, and all other papers with similar fiber and filler content
  • Obtained from offices
  • Used in production of tissue and deinked pulp
