Turkey creek
The Turkey Creek Wetland Mitigation Bank is owned by Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Development Company and located in Harrison County, Mississippi. Turkey Creek is comprised of wet pine savanna and bottomland hardwood wetlands that encompass approximately 238 acres.
In addition to restoring 158 acres of intensively managed pine plantation back to wet pine savanna, 20 acres of existing bottomland hardwoods and 50 acres of upland pine savanna are also being enhanced or preserved. The remaining acres are in roads and right-of-ways.
Credits created from the restoration of bottomland hardwood wetlands on this site can be purchased to offset losses of wetlands as required by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
