iLevel TimberStrand® Laminated Strand Lumber
For Quality Door and Window Components
TimberStrand® laminated strand lumber (LSL) is engineered for consistent quality and uniformity. It is made with a network of hardwood strands laminated together with a waterproof adhesive to form a single, solid piece of material.
Defects found in solid lumber have been engineered out, so it resists bowing, twisting, shrinking and telegraphing. It is an excellent alternative to traditional stave lumber or solid sawn lumber cores. Stave lumber core is manufactured using small wood blocks which can have grain and density variation, or gaps between individual blocks that can telegraph through veneer or cause warping of doors and windows.
TimberStrand® LSL vs. Traditional Lumber
Environmentally Sound
TimberStrand is manufactured at Weyerhaeuser’s Kenora, Ontario mill. The Kenora Sustainable Forest License, managed by Weyerhaeuser, is a significant source of wood for the Kenora mill and is certified to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA-Z809) and ISO 14001 standards. In addition, TimberStrand® LSL does not require the larger trees needed to manufacture solid sawn lumber since it’s made from small dimension aspen, white birch and yellow poplar. It does not contain formaldehyde-based adhesives, so its emissions are similar to those of natural raw wood.
