The Pacific Rim bonsai Collection is open weekly Tuesdays through Sundays (closed Mondays) year-round. Our operating hours are 10:00 Am - 4:00 PM.

Visitor Guidelines

We value the safety and comfort of our visitors. We respectfully ask that all visitors assist us in maintaining those values by following our guidelines:

  • While visiting the Collection please refrain from touching the plants or walking in planted areas.
  • The Collection is a smoke-free environment.
  • We discourage the use of cell phones and electronic games or toys.
  • There is no picnicking allowed at the Collection. Maps of neighboring parks and restaurants are available in the Rhododendron gift shop.
  • Pets are not allowed in the Collection. Service dogs are allowed when wearing an identifying blanket.

Personal, nonprofessional photography is allowed. Each bonsai display is owned by Weyerhaeuser Company and is protected by copyright laws. To photograph the Bonsai Collection or use images for commercial purposes, please contact Curator David De Groot at 253-924-5206.

To visit the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection, follow the directions below or see our map.

The Collection is located in Federal Way, Wash., 23 miles south of downtown Seattle and eight miles north of Tacoma.

From the North

  1. Take I-5 South.
  2. Take Exit 143 (S. 320th St.).
  3. Turn left (east) at end of the exit.
  4. Continue about one-quarter of a mile to Weyerhaeuser Way South and turn right.
  5. As you enter the roundabout, take the second right and continue south on Weyerhaeuser Way South.
  6. Take the next right and follow the Weyerhaeuser Company signs to the bonsai garden parking area.

From the South

  1. Take I-5 North.
  2. Take Exit 142A (Hwy 18 East).
  3. Take the Weyerhaeuser Way exit.
  4. Turn left onto Weyerhaeuser Way.
  5. Follow Weyerhaeuser Way South through the roundabout.
  6. Take the next left and follow the Weyerhaeuser Company signs to the bonsai garden parking area.
