Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Weyerhaeuser has again been selected for inclusion on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America in 2007. Weyerhaeuser is the only North American forest products company in the industry category of basic materials to be named. The annually reviewed DJSI is based on companies' economic, environmental and social performance in areas such as corporate governance, risk management, climate change, branding, supply chain standards and labor practices. Results of the review are available to asset managers in 14 countries for portfolios tailored for the sustainability-minded investor.

Sustainability Yearbook 2008

Weyerhaeuser was also recognized in the Sustainability Yearbook 2008. The Sustainability Yearbook is the world's most comprehensive reference work for assessing exchange-listed companies according to their economic, ecological and societal success factors. Only the best 15% of the companies in 57 industry sectors are included in the Yearbook.

For the first time, Strategic Asset Management (SAM) has developed a classification system that breaks down the leading companies into SAM Gold, Silver and Bronze classes. In addition, the company in each industry sector that has made the greatest progress in the area of sustainability is noted as a "Sector Mover."

Weyerhaeuser Company earned two sustainability distinctions in the Sustainability Yearbook 2008 in the Forestry & Paper sector:

  • 2008 Silver Class Leader (Aracruz, Gold Class, is the only other sector company named)
  • 2008 Sector Mover--awarded to the company that proportionally improved its sustainability performance most since last year

Storebrand Best in Class

Storebrand named Weyerhaeuser "Best in Class" in 2006 for its leading environmental and social performance. The designation qualifies Weyerhaeuser for Storebrand Principle Funds and the Morgan Stanley Capital International World Index.

Ethical Index Global

International financial consulting firm E. Capital Partners added Weyerhaeuser to its list of ethical companies in 2006. The Milan, Italy-based firm maintains the Ethical Index GLOBAL®, cataloging ethical companies traded on European stock exchanges.

Mississippi Wildlife Federation's 2007 Corporate Conservationist of the Year

Weyerhaeuser was named the Mississippi Wildlife Federation's 2007 Corporate Conservationist of the Year for its work and commitment to natural resource conservation.

West Virginia Forestry Association’s President’s Service Award

Weyerhaeuser’s West Virginia employees recently received the 2007 West Virginia Forestry Association’s President’s Service Award for outstanding work and accomplishments as a member of the state’s forestry community. The WVFA works to promote sound forest management practices and recognize exemplary work in the industry.
