Richard E. Hanson

Rich Hanson, 54, is senior vice president of Timberlands. Hanson leads Western Timberlands, Southern Timberlands, Forestry Research, Weyerhaeuser Forestlands International, Forestry External & Regulatory Affairs, and the Environmental Education Initiative. During his 29-year career with Weyerhaeuser, Hanson has held numerous management positions in the timberlands, wood products and the paper businesses. Most recently, Hanson served as vice president, Western Timberlands from February 1996 to November 1998.

Hanson graduated from the University of Oregon in 1965 with a bachelor of science in Industrial Management. He serves on the board of directors of the Oregon Forest Industries Council and Operating Committee, the advisory committee of the Oregon State University Forest Research Laboratory, and the board of trustees for the Oregon Zoo. Hanson is a member of the SOLV (Stop Oregon Litter & Vandalism) Founder’s Circle.
