Corbin
Bill
Corbin joined Weyerhaeuser Company on July 29, 1992. In November
1998 he was elected executive vice president, Wood Products, leading
the companys hardwood and softwood lumber, oriented strand
board, plywood, Building Materials Distribution, appearance wood,
composite products and export chip operations. Corbin also oversees
the companys timberlands and wood products operations in southern
Mississippi and Louisiana. Prior to assuming his current position,
Corbin served as executive vice president, Timberlands and Distribution,
from 1995 to 1998 and executive vice president, Wood Products, from
1992 to 1995.
Corbin began
his career in Seattle, Wash., in the forest products consulting
business. In the early 1970s, he was vice president of operations
for Vancouver Plywood Co. Inc. In 1974, he joined Crown Zellerbach
Corp., where he served as vice president of Southern timber and
wood products, senior vice president of timber and wood products,
and group president - a position he held until the companys
takeover in 1986.
In late 1986,
Corbin became chief executive officer and president of Superstill
Technology Inc., an emerging medium technology company in Redwood
City, Calif. In 1989, he rejoined the wood products industry as
vice president of operations for Redwood Empire. In 1991, he joined
International Paper Company as vice president and general manager
of land and timber, and president of IP Timberlands Ltd.
Corbin graduated
from the University of Washington with a bachelor of science degree
in forest products in 1964 and received a master of forestry degree
emphasizing industrial administration from Yale University in 1965.
Corbin serves
on the board of directors of Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd., is a member
of the management board of the World TimberFund, is a trustee and
executive committee member of the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation,
and is a member of the companys policy committee. He is an
advisory board member of both the University of Washingtons
School of Business Administration and College of Forest Resources.
He serves as vice president and an executive committee member of
The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust. Corbin is a charter member
of the International Advisory Board of the Institute for Environment
and Natural Resource Research and Policy at the University of Wyoming.
