Breaking Ground on Our New TimberStrand® Facility in Arkansas

Executives from Weyerhaeuser and numerous local and state officials took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking.

On June 18, more than 150 people — including a large contingent of Weyerhaeuser employees — gathered on the site of our future TimberStrand® manufacturing facility near Monticello, Arkansas, for an official groundbreaking celebration.

Speaking during the ceremony from Weyerhaeuser were Devin Stockish, president and CEO; Brian Chaney, senior vice president of Wood Products; Sean Cheeseman, vice president of Engineered Wood Products; and Jackson Braswell, public affairs manager for Arkansas and Oklahoma. Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, Arkansas Lt. Governor Leslie Rutledge, State Sen. Ben Gilmore and Rep. Jeff Wardlaw, and Jennifer Emerson, deputy director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.

“We've operated in Arkansas since the mid-1950s, and this is a great, great place to do business,” Devin said in his remarks. “At the local level, we've really had wonderful engagement across the board. Everyone has bent over backwards to help us get this facility here, and I can tell you the reason we're sitting here today in Monticello, Arkansas, and not somewhere else is because of that support and the engagement that we've had from our friends in the local community, the economic development team, the governor's office, federal and state legislature. They've all made us feel very welcome, and we just couldn't be more excited to kick off construction of this facility.”
