Expanding Our Distribution Business

In early July, our Distribution business announced the acquisition of a distribution center in Spokane, Washington, from Wausau Supply Company, and the opening of a new distribution center in Billings, Montana, in early 2026, following the remodel of an existing facility.

"Expanding our distribution footprint is more than just growth — it's a commitment to delivering the best in building products to our customers where and when they need them,” says Ross Theilen, vice president of Distribution. “As we reach new markets, we do so with a steadfast focus on working safely, efficiently, and collaboratively — because how we grow is just as important as where we grow."

Ross met with Wausau employees in Spokane on July 2, along with David Gibson, Distribution West Division manager, and Tokunbo Faleye, senior HR business partner, to share news about the acquisition and encourage Wausau employees to apply for positions with Weyerhaeuser. Wausau and Weyerhaeuser teams worked closely to make the transition period as seamless as possible for customers, partners and employees.

Spokane began formally operating under the Weyerhaeuser name on Thursday, July 24.

“We’re incredibly proud of how smoothly the transition was received — it’s a true reflection of the trust we’ve built with our customers and vendor partners,” says Tom Moran, area general manager for the Spokane and Billings distribution centers. “Customers are genuinely excited to see Weyerhaeuser Distribution establishing a local presence in Spokane, and we’re looking forward to supporting their growth with the same dependable service they’ve come to expect.”

The new locations will help our Distribution business better serve customers in eastern Washington, northern Idaho, northern Wyoming and Montana. These locations are also expected to allow adjacent West Division distribution centers to partner in enhancing their delivery service. Spokane and Billings will both carry the mix of proprietary Weyerhaeuser and Trus Joist® brands, commodity lumber, panels, steel and specialty building products — such as outdoor living products, siding and trim, insulation, cedar, and board and pattern products — that customers of our distribution centers have come to expect and rely on.

Once the Billings distribution center opens, our Distribution business will serve customers from 21 distribution centers across the U.S.

"This milestone reflects the strength of our team and our shared vision for the future,” says Brian Chaney, senior vice president of Wood Products. “By growing our market presence, we’re better positioned to serve our partners with excellence. We’re proud to do it the Weyerhaeuser way — through safe practices, strong relationships, and a culture of continuous improvement."
