Donating Christmas trees to our operating communities is a proud holiday tradition for our Timberlands teams, especially those in Oregon and Washington state. Here are some highlights of holiday trees donated across Western Timberlands this season.

OREGON CAPITOL

In Salem, we’re honored to be part of the holiday celebration at the newly renovated Oregon State Capitol.

Chris Strunk, harvest manager, and Matthew Fiorito, area manager, scouted our Snow Peak tree farm to supply more than a dozen Christmas trees that are now brightening spaces outside the House and Senate chambers and throughout the Capitol Galleria.

When the original supplier was unable to provide a “Grand Tree” for the Capitol Rotunda, our Mid-Coast team stepped up on short notice, sourcing an impressive 40-foot noble fir. Foresters Don Irons and Andrea Kolarova found the tree and coordinated transportation from Falls City to Salem, ensuring the Capitol’s festivities remained bright and memorable.

“It was a bit tricky to find the perfect tree of this size on a day’s notice since we aren’t specifically growing Christmas trees,” Andrea says. “We got lucky with this one. It was growing without neighbors, so it has nice, full volume. It’s a beautiful tree that will be the perfect backdrop for this year’s holiday performances.”

LINCOLN CITY & ALBANY

Our Mid-Coast team also donated a noble fir to the Lincoln City Cultural Center. This was our second time donating a tree to the organization, and we were recognized with a “thank you” message on the center’s digital roadside along Highway 101, the main thoroughfare in the area. Continuing our annual tradition, the team also donated 2,000 cut trees to create a magical indoor forest for Christmas Storybook Land at the Albany fairgrounds.

COTTAGE GROVE

For the first time this year, Ryan Dippel, forester, and the South Valley team provided the city of Cottage Grove with a 35-foot noble fir tree for the community’s annual celebration at All-American Square, marking a new tradition for the South Valley team.

SPRINGFIELD

In Springfield, our team provided trees to the Marcola Community Christmas, a holiday event supporting local families in need. At the event, families are able to choose gifts for children and friends along with a Christmas tree to bring home. The team also donated a tree for the annual Springfield Christmas Parade that was featured on the grand marshal’s float.

In Olympia, three towering trees recently took center stage in the Capitol Rotunda. Sourced from our Vail tree farm, the trees have been delighting school groups and the general public since their installation in early December.
