Recently Updated Health and Safety Code §25249.5 et seq. of the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1989 (Proposition 65) requires that warnings be provided to anyone prior to exposing them to any of more than 900 chemicals that the State has concluded cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Warnings are required even though the levels of exposure may be far below levels known to cause any harm.
The normal use of Weyerhaeuser wood products such as drilling, sawing, sanding or machining can generate and cause exposure to Wood Dust, which is known to the State to cause cancer. Also, these raw wood products may release Methanol, which is known to the State to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Prop 65 warnings vary by product and may include other listed chemical substances.
